Maria Köpf
Producer
MARIA KÖPF was born in Munich in 1962. She studied American literature and film and theatre in Berlin and New York. Since the end of the 80s, she has been dedicated to the production and release of films, among other things as a distributor, production manager and sometimes programmer and head of the Berlin Arthouse cinema „Sputnik“ (together with Stefan Arndt).

Since 1995, she has worked consistently for X Filme creative pool, initially as head of post production on STILLE NACHT. She has been working with Tom Tykwer since WINTER SLEEPERS (1997), first as line producer, as on RUN LOLA RUN (1998 German Film Prize in gold), and later as producer on THE PRINCESS AND THE WARRIOR and HEAVEN (both German Film Prize in silver). She also produced the multi award-winning debut film by Hendrik Handloegten PAUL IS DEAD and in 2002, she produced Conni Walther's NEVER MIND THE WALL, which was also nominated for the German Film Awards. In 2002 she produced Hendrik Handloegten's first feature film LEARNING TO LIE and Tom Tykwer's short film TRUE, for „Paris, je t’aime“.

Maria Köpf is co-managing director of X Filme creative pool. At the moment, she is working on the Ayse Polat's cinema debut, (working title: EN GARDE), together with „Das Kleine Fernsehspiel“ department of public broadcaster ZDF. She is also developing a new feature film project by Sebastian Schipper, entitled EIN FREUND VON MIR, the film version of Holly-Jane Rahlen's novel PRINCE WILLIAM, MAXIMILIAN MINSKY AND I (Director: Anna Justice) and an essay film about love: ICH DICH AUCH
